Purpose: Operates all related equipment in support of water and sewer services provided by Redford Township.Essential Functions: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include, but are not limited to the following duties, responsibilities, tasks, knowledge’s, skills and other characteristics. This list of Duties and Responsibilities is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not intended to be considered a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.Example Duties/Responsibilities: Operates various pieces of motorized construction equipment; locates and identifies underground utilities; reviews and determines type of repair, materials, equipment and/or maintenance as required; directs and assists activities assigned to work project; determines proper location of equipment and supplies; digs trenches, moves dirt and other materials necessary to initiate and complete repairs and maintenance; performs site restoration tasks following completion of repairs; performs other duties as assigned or required.Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED. Six months operating construction equipment similar to that used by the township.Additional Information/Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry heavy, bulky tools, equipment and other items weighing in excess of 50 pounds.May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, fluids, bodily waste and other materials.May be required to work out of doors in all weather conditions.May be required to work in construction areas, trenches of various depths, and subterranean structures.Must be eligible to receive applicable certificates and/or licensing as required.Knowledge/Skills: Familiarity with the application of township, county, state and federal rules, regulations, requirements, policies and procedures as applied to the position;Familiarity with the principles and techniques of vehicle and equipment and usage;Familiarity with the reading of and interpreting maps, blue prints, site plans and related documents;Familiarity with township streets, roads, facilities and services locations;Familiarity with keeping and maintaining records.
