What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coding Technician position at Redington-Fairview General Hospital?
The coding technician shall participate as a member of the health record services department in providing accurate, timely and complete data for the hospital's patient care information system. This data is used for accumulating needed statistics, for carrying out studies for the hospital's performance improvement program, and as a means of arriving at decisions regarding effective management of patient care, and for the forecasting healthcare needs and services. Coders work remotely utilizing the Hospital’s Electronic Medical Record system Meditech Expanse
Status: Full time, 40 hours
Qualities: Well organized, excellent attention to detail and good communication skills.
Requirements: CCS, CCS-P, CPC, RHIT or RHIA required or successfully obtain credential within 1 year of employment. 3 years of experience utilizing ICD-10-CM, PCS and CPT is preferred. Knowledgeable with third party payment systems and 3M coding software. Knowledgeable in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
