ReDiscover is looking for a Health Information Management (HIM) Leader to add to our Medical Records Department!

WHAT WE DO

The HIM Department at ReDiscover plays an important role in records management and information governance. HIM professionals are vital to daily operations, strengthening HIPAA compliance, and ensuring client records are complete, accurate, and timely. This department is part of the clinical support team and works closely with healthcare providers to assist in patient care delivery through the release of information.

 

At ReDiscover, while every day is different, a typical day may include the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Serving as the Privacy Officer and agency expert and consultant on HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 and Privacy related questions.
  • Managing the processing, maintenance, timeliness and release of client health information in accordance with applicable regulations and ReDiscover policies and procedures.
  • Managing the facilitation of accurate scanning and indexing of records, along with timely response to scanning questions.
  • Managing the timely and effective processing of discharged records.
  • Managing thorough and accurate completion of all program Level 1 audit reviews.
  • Managing department resources in an efficient, cost-conscious manner to accomplish agency objectives.
  • Completing Breach investigations including identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities as necessary.
  • Ensuring appropriate and effective communication of HIM processes, protocols, rules and regulations to provide support and understanding for clinical programs and clients.
  • Reviewing and developing policies and procedures. This includes, maintaining current knowing and researching industry standards and protocols regarding record management, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 and Privacy.
  • Meeting with staff, as requested, to refine medical records procedures and protocols; resolve medical records issues; and provide training on HIM, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and privacy practices, including upon hire.
  • Overseeing and providing fiscal responsibility for the annual HIM budget, which includes preparing, maintaining and working with executive leadership for continued growth and planning.

Qualifications


We are focused on your development and will spend time helping you continue to grow as a Health Information Management Leader.  However, here are some things that you will need before starting with ReDiscover:

  • High School Diploma with RHIA or RHIT Certification required.
  • Three (3) years of experience working within an HIM department preferred.
  • Proficient in HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and privacy theory and practice.
  • Proficient in EHR systems and data management.
  • Effectively able to work with medical, clinical, and non-clinical staff to reach common goals and objectives.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as G-Suite.
