At ReDiscover, while every day is different, a typical day may include the following roles and responsibilities:
- Supports ReDiscover's Substance Use Disorder programs, which include inpatient and outpatient levels of care.
- Shares lived experience of resilience and recovery and models successful recovery behaviors for individuals with a mental health diagnoses and/or a substance use disorder.
- Links clients with support groups and other community resources, which may include connecting with health & wellness activities, finding and maintaining employment, or other activities that would support clients’ recovery goals.
- Works within an interdisciplinary team to develop and modify individual client treatment plans.
- May participate and/or facilitate mutual support and education groups within specific ReDiscover programs.
- May assist with client transportation, which could include transporting individuals in personal vehicle.
- Safeguards Protected Health Information (written and electronically) and maintains confidentiality. This may include providing written documentation.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Candidates who are already certified as a MO Peer Support Specialist are required or be enrolled in the peer certification.
- Be available to work Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00pm with twice a week flexing hours to work until 7:00pm
- A valid automobile driver’s license, appropriate automobile insurance and a safe, reliable, registered automobile available for use during work.
- Must have life experiences with a substance use disorder and/or mental illness and have received appropriate services.
- Must have successfully completed the Peer Specialist training through the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB) and successfully passed the certification exam. Individuals who are non-certified at time of hire may be given a specific timeframe to attend training and obtain initial certification.
- Must also satisfy requirements for external community partners.
- Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as GSuite.
