WHAT WE DO
Alt Care provides outpatient day treatment substance use disorder services to women involved with Missouri State Probation & Parole. The program works to create a supportive space for women to get their needs met through access to therapy, intensive case management, psychiatric and nursing care, peer support, and a variety of creative educational and therapeutic groups. Alt Care aims to help women either in transition from Prison to Community, or who need intensive support to avoid incarceration.
At ReDiscover, while every day is different, a typical day may include the following roles and responsibilities:
- Maintain and interact with a caseload of clients with diverse characteristics either in-person and in some cases, virtually.
- Evaluate client’s mental health condition based on review of client information, including bio-psycho-social assessments, psychological evaluation and diagnostics. Collecting information about the client through interviews, observations, and tests. Prepares and maintains treatment records and reports.
- Develop and implements treatment plans based on clinical experience, knowledge, and understanding of the client’s information and history. Acts as a client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
- Counsel clients, individually and in group sessions specific to the program format, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes. Maintains confidentiality of records relating to clients treatment.
- Work within an interdisciplinary team to develop treatment plans for client(s) being served.
We are focused on your development and will spend time helping you continue to grow as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor. However, here are some things that you will need prior to starting with ReDiscover:
- Available to work, Monday to Friday - (40-hour a week work schedule) - 8:00am to 5:00pm
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Social Science field (as defined by the Department of Mental Health). Master's Degree preferred.
- Certified or registered as a Substance Use Disorder Professional by the Missouri Credentialing Board. Appropriate certifications include MAADC, CADC, CRADC, and other Counseling Credentials defined by the Missouri Credentialing Board.
- Active Professional Counselor license (LPC) or Provisional Counselor license (PLPC) through the state of Missouri or a Master Social Worker license (LMSW) with registered supervisor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience in direct service provision in a mental health setting.
- Working knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorders.
- Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as GSuite.
