What are the responsibilities and job description for the GNC Engineer position at Reditus Space | YC W25?
Reditus Space is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer to join our core engineering team in developing next-generation re-entry vehicles and enabling point-to-point mobility in space. As a GNC Engineer, you will lead the design, simulation, and implementation of guidance and control algorithms for suborbital and orbital re-entry missions, ensuring safe and precise trajectory shaping from orbit to recovery. You will be responsible for integrating sensor fusion, state estimation, and control logic into real-time embedded systems, and will work closely with flight software, avionics, and thermal teams to optimize performance under extreme dynamic and thermal environments. Ideal candidates have experience with nonlinear control, state estimation (e.g., EKF), and high-fidelity simulation environments such as MATLAB/Simulink or Python-based frameworks, and are comfortable validating performance through Monte Carlo analysis, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and flight experiments. A strong foundation in classical and modern control theory, as well as hands-on experience with vehicle dynamics modeling, is essential. Prior experience with re-entry, launch vehicles, or autonomous aerospace systems is strongly preferred. Join us as we build the technologies to close the loop on space logistics and make orbital return as routine as launch.
