Job Title : Lower School Bilingual Special Education Faculty (2025-26 school year)

Summary :

Must be proficient in English and Spanish. Oversees the program for academic support and its personnel at the site. Directs and provides specific intervention strategies to assist students with identified areas of academic weakness. Observes and consults in Kindergarten through 5th general education teaching and support staff. Plans programs, coordinates curricular resources, and evaluates effectiveness of all special education programs for students with special needs on site. Develops and assists in the development and implementation of service plans for students.

The Bilingual Special Education teacher models a servant's heart and promotes an attitude of respect, teamwork and professionalism by speaking well of other faculty and staff members; supports entire school system- lower school, middle school, upper school; prays for and with other faculty and staff; encourages others in Godly living and excellence; lovingly holds others accountable; actively pursues ways to encourage members of the schools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following :

  • Establishes objectives for each child in the overall program.
  • Develops and implements curriculum to aid students in need of support.
  • Tracks student progress in specific intervention strategies and general classroom performance. Assesses results and adjusts as needed.
  • Provides direction to paraprofessionals in service provision and time management with students.
  • Keep attendance records, if needed.
  • Maintains discipline in the classroom and demonstrates effective classroom management skills.
  • Meets with parents to discuss student progress and problems.
  • Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Collaborates with grade level teachers to provide strategies for interventions.
  • Plans, develops, and implements programs.
  • Oversees special education support staff on site.
  • Designs student schedules.
  • Attends and Participates as a member of the Individualized Education Program team in the identification of students with exceptional needs.
  • Facilitates all referrals for further evaluation.
  • Attends all annual IEP meetings on site and at districts.
  • Educates general education teachers.
  • Provides direct services to individuals with special needs.
  • Consults with general education teachers on intervention and attends Student Support Team meetings as appropriate.
  • Creates and implements behavior support plans.
  • Consults on curriculum expenditures.

Work with teachers to identify :

  • What accommodations we offer students and procedures for giving accommodations
  • Observation and assessment of students who are struggling
  • Work with students regarding :

  • Accommodations
  • Understanding learning styles
  • Regular meetings to discuss progress / challenges
  • Work with parents regarding :

  • Student strengths and weaknesses
  • Referring students for testing if needed
  • SST and / or IEP meetings
  • Disability
  • Accommodations and modifications
  • Meeting with on a regular basis to communicate about their child's progress (initially to get background info on student and make sure child's testing is current)
  • Partner with parents to help remediate their child's weaknesses.
  • Work with Administration regarding :

  • Scheduling and attending Student Support Team meetings. Type reports, obtain signatures, and make sure recommendations are being followed as prescribed in the SST document.
  • Assisting in identifying areas of deficiency from standardized test results.
  • Assisting as needed with staff development courses and mentoring programs.

  • Assesses the learning of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Communicates student expectations at the beginning of the year (via a syllabus) and throughout the year clearly and uses school administrative software to post homework and grades as well as other needed information
  • Keeps proper discipline in the classroom, on school premises, and at school activities
  • Experience and / or understanding of At-Risk students; learning interventions, low-achieving students, child / adolescent development, and motivational strategies
  • Review educational psychological reports and disseminate the information through a Plan of Action
  • Stays current with research on intervention strategies.

  • Cooperates with the administration in implementing all policies, procedures and directives governing the operations of the school
  • Maintains regular and accurate attendance and grade records
  • Keeps students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of deficiencies and gives sufficient notice of failure
  • Maintains a clean, attractive, and well-ordered classroom
  • Accepts a share of responsibility for extra-curricular activities as assigned
  • Willing to listen to the counsel of administration, colleagues and parents, and is teachable
  • Attends and participates in scheduled devotional, committee and faculty meetings
  • Arrives at work on time and remains until the work day is complete
  • Reports to all scheduled supervision duties
  • Dresses in a professional way that is set apart from the students
  • Contacts parents within 24 hours of initial inquiry

  • Supervisory Responsibilities :

    This position supervises teachers and paraprofessionals who assist with intervention strategies.

    Education and / or Experience :

    Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and / or training or equivalent combination of education and experience; or Fifth year college or university program certificate or two to four years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree is preferred.

    Credentials, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :

    A special education credential is required.
