Job Description
Redlands Community College is seeking candidates to apply for the Director of the Physical Plant. This is a full-time professional staff position working 40 hours per week. The salary range for this position is $55,000.00 to $58,000.00 per year, with excellent benefits. This position is responsible for managing the operational activities and maintenance of campus buildings and equipment while supervising and mentoring a diverse work group. This role involves overseeing personnel engaged in these tasks, and fostering an inclusive environment that values collaboration and professional growth. The Director will also manage the care and cleaning of buildings and grounds, as well as the operation of heating, air conditioning, and ventilating systems. This position requires maintaining regular contact with college officials, external agency representatives, contractors, and vendors.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide management and supervision of all maintenance and custodial employees.
- Oversee the purchase and distribution of materials and supplies.
- Maintain working familiarity with best practices in various fields, including janitorial, building and lawn maintenance, tree trimming and removal, large and small remodels and repairs, and disaster recovery from flooding, tornadoes, and ice storms.
- Maintain working familiarity with Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Safety, and Security trades.
- Respond to emergency requests as required, 24/7.
- Utilize various computer programs to access email, give and receive work instructions, manage budgets, write letters, develop forms and schedules, and obtain information, including interfacing with software to manage HVAC systems.
- The position requires frequent standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; stooping; kneeling; crouching; or crawling; and talking or hearing. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.
Qualifications:
Mandatory:
- Proven experience in facilities management or a related field.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Must be able to obtain the following within 60 days of hire:
- Petroleum Storage Tank Operators Class A/B license
- NIMS 400-level certification.
Preferred:
- Trade certification in one or more of the supervisory areas (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC).

Clery Statement
Redlands Community College is committed to providing a safe place to live, work, study and visit. Part of this effort includes sharing information regarding the safety and security of our campuses.
Redlands provides email notifications to all students, faculty and staff when a Clery Crime occurs in or near Redlands Community College campus or any of its sites.
