POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the CFO, the role of the Corporate Controller will be to maximize returns on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. The Corporate Controller is responsible for financial reporting, payroll, cash management, debt service and compliance, construction project accounting, audit and tax return coordination, and Accounts Payable.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting
- Complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process (bank reconciliations, journal entries, account reconciliations, etc.) to meet reporting deadlines to financial partners.
- Accurately reviews and documents all business transactions, personnel records and purchases.
- Prepares financial information as required to meet internal and/or external reporting needs.
- Implements and maintains processes for accounting systems, accounting controls and document retention.
- Prepares monthly reporting package for C-Suite
- Provide reports and other information to lenders on a quarterly and annual basis; ensure monthly debt service payments are made.
A/P, A/R & Invoicing
- Manages all general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations for the company.
- Accurately prepares and posts journal entries, reviews journal entries from staff.
- Proactively reviews and provides reporting on accounts receivable to ensure efficient collections.
- Enforces vendor compliance standards within the organization.
- Reviews third party utility billing for accuracy.
Audits & Tax Reporting
- Assists in the timely and accurate completion of reports and all required data for tax reporting purposes.
- Assists in the audit coordination process; support to the Company's CPA to coordinate audits, tax returns, documentation and tax planning.
- Assists in coordinating operations audit, ensuring adequate documentation is maintained and provided to auditors as requested.
Financial Analysis
- Prepares, reviews and interprets financial information.
- Performs account analysis and prepares related schedules.
- Interprets and reviews financial results for reasonableness.
Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Oversee biweekly payroll, including 401(k) funding.
- Accurately transfers funds, prepares reports and updates accounting records for each payroll.
- Assists with recommendation on plan design and the selection of benefits options that create the most value within a set budget.
- Coordinates with plan providers to efficiently administer the firm's benefits programs.
Budgeting & Cash Flow Management
- Assists with preparing well thought out budgets for the Company's apartment communities, capital projects, cash flow and financial position.
- Works with operations to ensure accurate costs are used for establishing pricing of the Company's apartments and services.
- Work with the Construction Department and Development Director relating to capital projections, budgetary controls, and project funding.
- Prepares all capital calls and distributions, updating capital accounts schedule.
- Reviews internal reserves to ensure adequate amounts are set aside for tax and insurance payments.
- Manages company money market account, maximizing interest while maintaining sufficient funds at the property level.
Leadership and Oversight
- Directly supervises Assistant Controller, Payroll Accountant, and Senior Accountant.
- Participates in strategy meetings with other leaders at RedPeak.

Desired Education
- Undergraduate or master’s degree in accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (preferred)
Desired Work Experience
- Public accounting background
- 7-10 years of experience in commercial real estate, with multifamily experience preferred.
- Familiarity with job costing and construction accounting.
- Yardi experience preferred.
- Experience working with multiple entities and consolidations
