Job Summary
The Senior Network Systems Engineer will be responsible for a wide range of duties including computer network design, programming, testing, implementing, system administration, and support. This position requires expertise in various areas such as network security, system performance optimization, and LAN/WAN management. This role will wear multiple hats, working closely with the IT Infrastructure and Cloud teams to design, build out, administer, and maintain RedSail’s Hosting and Cloud infrastructure. This is a fast-paced, exciting role, and well suited for someone looking to get their hands dirty in a lot of different areas.
Key Duties
- Designing computer networks and systems architecture.
- Programming and testing network systems.
- Establishing and maintaining network security protocols and policies.
- Monitoring and optimizing system performance.
- Creating and managing user accounts.
- Implementing and supporting email servers.
- Providing LAN/WAN support and network design.
- Writing shell scripts, modular programming, and process handling.
- Developing, improving, and maintaining network and computer systems.
- Modifying system software to meet performance objectives.
- Documenting system modifications and procedures for new software implementations.
- Setting up computer networks for document storage, transfer, and retrieval.
- Overseeing daily computer system performance and troubleshooting.
- Installing and configuring new equipment and software.
- Planning, coordinating, and implementing network security measures.
- Configuring and defining parameters for LAN/WAN installations.
- Interacting with management and users to address concerns and modifications.
- Monitor all services hosted in RedSail Technologies’ Data Centers and act as first level support for issues that may arise during assigned shift.
- Ensure systems deployed at RedSail’s Data Centers follow company’s documented Security and Compliance policies.
- Participate in On Call rotation.
- Performs other duties as assigned by RedSail Technologies management.
Education/Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent with general operating knowledge of IT infrastructure systems or at least five years’ experience working in an Enterprise Data Center environment.
- At least five (5) years professional experience.
Required Work Experience/Skills
- Relevant certifications and work experience in network engineering.
- Strong knowledge of computer networks, systems administration, and security protocols.
- A history of designing and performing IT and application migrations to the Cloud
- A willingness to be flexible in responding to customer issues as they occur, and the ability to identify product/deployment improvements to mitigate future occurrences
- Proficiency in programming languages and shell scripting.
- Strong experience with the design and support of LAN/WAN management and network hardware.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Preferred Work Experience/Skills
- Power Admin Infrastructure Monitoring.
- Experience with Wireshark or equivalent packet capturing application.
- Expert with cloud hosted apps/service infrastructure, Azure experience required, and ability to translate business requirements into securely implemented capabilities in the Cloud
