Salary: $19.95 - $24.57 per hour / Additional Differentials Must Qualify

Pay Differentials Offered (must qualify through testing or verification):
- Language Translation - Bi-cultural Spanish: $1.00 per hour
- Bimodal Bilingualism - ASL Sign Language: $1.00 per hour
- Bimodal Multilingualism - ASL Sign Language: $2.00 per hour
Overview:
Provides active, hands-on peer support to parents/caregivers or youth/clients receiving Wraparound services. Effective peer support should be friendly, helpful, accessible and flexible. Must be the biological, adoptive, kin parent or non-related family member of a youth with emotional or behavioral challenges or has had systems experience with their child in a child serving system. Must have life experience as the parent of a youth with emotional or behavioral challenges. Please share your lived life experience in your cover letter. Key Responsibilities:
- Teaches skills for parents to be able to effectively participate in the Wraparound process.
- Builds hope for families and clients.
- Effectively/professionally connects with client/family on a personal basis to build trust with client and family.
- Participates collaboratively in identifying potential team members and developing motivational techniques to ensure commitment to the team.
- Understands and explains the parents’ perspective, culture and beliefs in a way that increases understanding by others, while decreasing differences and highlighting similarities.
- Assesses the level of support needed by parent based on the family’s support network, their ability to involve their support networks, and the ability of the parent to be heard by others.
- Meets with family regularly and consistently to encourage and support an understanding of their vision for the future.
Education and/or Experience
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent degree
- Be willing to share their experience
- Have a strong dedication recovery
- Agree, in writing, to adhere to the Code of Ethics
- Successfully complete the 80-hour training requirements for a Peer Support Specialist through CalMHSA-approved training entity.
- Pass the certification examination
- Must be the biological, adoptive, kin parent or non-related family member of a youth with emotional or behavioral challenges or has had systems experience with their child in a child serving system
- Must have life experience as the parent of a youth with emotional or behavioral challenges. Education in social services is optimal, but not necessary.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be willing to obtain Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification
- Must possess a valid CA Driver’s License, current auto insurance, and a clean DMV printout (no more than 3 points).
- This position requires the use of a personal vehicle for business purposes. Employees must maintain liability insurance that meets or exceeds the state’s requirements.
- Must pass a clear background check with CACI, DOJ & FBI.
- CPR and First Aid Certified.
- TB Exam and Physical at the time of employment.
Driving Requirement:
This position requires the use of a personal vehicle for business purposes and on-call rotation.
Other Requirements:
- Driving is a required function of this position. Employees must use a personal vehicle that meet all agency requirements, including maintaining liability insurance that meets or exceeds state requirements.
- Employees are responsible for ensuring the timely renewal of their vehicle insurance policies and providing updated documentation to the agency to remain in good standing and compliant with position requirements.
Training:
- RCS provides an in-depth onboarding and training orientation, which includes CPR/First Aid, Crisis Communication/Pro-ACT, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Collaborative Problem Solving, introductions to all RCS departments, and other valuable trainings.
