Redwood Credit Union is looking for a Risk Management Specialist, who will be responsible for serving as support for the implementation, promotion, and facilitation of enterprise risk management (ERM) activities for RCU, and as a subject matter expert in area relating to ERM. Perform risk and control assessments and work with team members to help identify risk exposure and mitigation options within various business processes and products while ensuring risk appetite is consistent with RCU policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. This position works in close partnership with RCU departments to stay apprised of related issues and regulations which may impact RCU. Managing ad hoc and ongoing identification, assessment, and documentation of risks.
Coordination, Performance and Analysis of Risk Assessments
• Facilitate risk and control assessments in partnership with business areas.
• Identify opportunities to improve risk awareness within the organization.
• Work with Audit Manager and SVP/Risk Management to execute ERM plan.
• Support in creating and updating of organization’s risk register.
• Gain expertise in ERM software system to act as resource and train business line stakeholders,
answer questions, and maximize the functionality of ERM.
• Communicate with ERM software vendor, as needed.
• Participate in development of risk management KPIs and KRIs.
• Work with Audit Manager and SVP/Risk Management on applicable, informative risk- reporting for
Executives, Board, Audit and Enterprise Risk Committee.
• Participate in projects to provide a risk-focused perspective.
• Assist on exams, audits, and other tasks as assigned.
• Provide superior service to Members, internal clients, and service providers.
• Monitor and report on risk remediation efforts.
Compliance Support
• Vendor Management – Work with Vendor Management Specialist and vendor owners to
create and maintain vendor data and assessments, including working within vendor management system.
• Business Continuity – Work with Business Continuity Specialist and business line partners to
update and maintain business continuity plans, including utilization of BCP system.
Other Functions
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Create, maintain, and revise departmental procedures.
• Stay current on regulatory trends and corporate policies.
\n- Knowledge of risk management core principles.
- Experience in establishing an ERM program, risk and control frameworks, and risk reporting to management.
- Knowledge and experience in implementing or enhancing risk management functions and culture within a financial institution.
- Experience creating and/or using data to identify risk trends and make risk-based decisions or recommendations.
- Experience communicating with business line partners to effectively glean risk level and control effectiveness.
- Ability to produce and comprehend complex Excel reports capable of tracking trends, variances, and exceptions.
- Knowledge of using the applications within the Microsoft office Suite.
- Strong analytical/problem solving, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people, including vendors.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to coordinate a variety of activities simultaneously and prioritize workload appropriately with little supervision.
- Ability to distinguish and process confidential material and information with discretion.
- Strong orientation to details.
- Ability to perform physical job requirements of the job, including ability to move objects of up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
- Work environment is indoors; majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.
The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, plus a minimum of three years’ experience working in a financial institution within audit and/or risk management, with knowledge and experience of ERM best practices.
Compensation: base starting range $33.00 to $43.00 per hour commensurate with experience.
