Electrical Designer
Redwood Materials is seeking an Electrical Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will collaborate with the electrical, mechanical, process, and controls teams to support the development, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and improvement of manufacturing processes and equipment. You will also be responsible for designing and reviewing electrical control systems, including industrial control panels, and planning modifications and improvements using SolidWorks Electrical.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Electrical Engineers to generate schematics and various drawings.
- Continue development and implementation of standards, symbol libraries, design templates and tools, and manufacturing and QA procedures.
- Utilize CAD tools such as REVIT, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks Electrical to create:
- Cable Tray and Conduit Routing Plans
- Device Layouts
- Instrumentation Loop Diagrams
- Circuit Schedules
- Instrument Schedules
- Review and design electrical control systems for our plants, including industrial control panels.
- Make calculations such as heat flow, FLA, and SCCR.
- Assist in the development and implementation of standards, symbol libraries, design templates, and tools.
- Ensure drawings comply with local and national codes, as well as Redwood standards.
- Operate within a systematic framework to uphold exceptional engineering document control and submit documents for review efficiently.
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong electrical acumen with a background in industrial equipment and processes.
- 1-2 years of drafting experience with supervision from engineering professionals.
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as REVIT, AutoCAD, EPLAN or SolidWorks Electrical.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office proficiency.
- Basic knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and familiarity with other pertinent codes and standards.
- Fundamental understanding of ANSI Y14 drawing standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
