Senior Construction Estimator, Electrical and Controls
Redwood Materials is seeking an Senior Construction Estimator to be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of electrical projects: including manufacturing facilities, campus power grids, tenant improvements and labs. This involves analyzing project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine the scope of work, material requirements, labor hours, and other associated costs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical and low voltage systems, construction practices, and estimating principles.

Senior Construction Estimator, Electrical and Controls
Redwood Materials is seeking an Senior Construction Estimator to be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of electrical projects: including manufacturing facilities, campus power grids, tenant improvements and labs. This involves analyzing project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine the scope of work, material requirements, labor hours, and other associated costs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical and low voltage systems, construction practices, and estimating principles.
Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and other contract documents to determine the scope of electrical work.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates and cost models for electrical projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontracts, and other direct costs.
- Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors for materials and services.
- Analyze historical cost data and apply appropriate escalation factors to current estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to price projects as model / design inception.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities associated with project costs.
- Prepare and present cost estimates to management and inhouse design engineers.
- Maintain accurate records of estimated costs and bid documentation.
- Participate in post-bid reviews to analyze actual costs versus estimated costs and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, new technologies, and cost-saving strategies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of estimating procedures and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Ability and desire to learn about new technologies and understand Redwood's design process.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical estimating.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards for Nevada and the capacity to learn about South Carolina's differences.
- Proficiency in using Excel.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with low voltage, medium voltage, manufacturing controls, fire alarm systems and data cabling.
