Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We're doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.

Redwood Materials is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Manager to support our rapid physical expansion. This person will lead the strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the Facilities department. In addition, they will manage the day-to-day operations for building/facility maintenance, as well as equipment, and machinery, including HVAC, building lighting systems, grounds keeping, and overall facility appearance. This individual must be able to work across a wide range of teams and disciplines in a dynamic and scrappy start-up environment.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage equipment, building, and related services, and forecast any possible problems or defects that may occur (to the most minute detail)
  • Directly manage staff, assign work, monitor activities, evaluate performance, and manage escalated/critical issues.
  • Builds, mentors, develops and coaches a team of Facility Technicians
  • Continuously update and improve efficiency and response time to minimize downtime.
  • Participate in the preparation and administration of the facility maintenance budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures; prepare cost estimates; submit justifications for equipment
  • Perform Project Management oversight; directly manage contractors and consultants, develop and track budget, and oversee quality assurance
  • Manage projects (capital and expense), facility requests, and special events.
  • Develop/manage department key performance indicators (KPIs)



Desired Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering or similar engineering discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 5 years managing facilities within complex manufacturing, maintenance or production environments
  • High level of experience in a regulatory environment, including permitting, workplace safety, and environmental regulations to comply with local, state, and federal standards.
  • Experience defining and implementing building management and automation systems.
  • Experience and/or expertise in several of the following areas: Plant Operations Engineering, clean room, and large-scale manufacturing.
  • Experience with managing new construction projects, (i.e. tenant improvements, tool installation, facilities equipment installation.)
  • Demonstrated work experience leading building facility teams from the ground up and managing multi-site teams.
  • Experience managing relationships with contractors and service providers (janitorial, HVAC, landscaping, mechanical and electrical trades)
  • Excellent computer and systems knowledge; Strong literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
