Redwood Oil Co. was founded by Peter Van Alyea with his purchase of a single gas station in the early 1970's in Marin County. Since then we have grown to 24 retail gas and convenience store locations, 16 of which are home to our Aztec Grills where fresh food items are prepared daily by our grill staff. Redwood Market and Aztec Grill are brands of Redwood Oil, which you will see on the face of our stores and on the labels of our in-house prepared food products.

The Junior Category Manager & Analyst oversees the development of the categories and related marketing programs to increase sales and gross profit of select categories within the c-store and support Brand Director in other categories. Accomplish this by planning marketing strategies, selecting suppliers, evaluating new products and displays, evaluating new programs (research, data), promotions and distribution opportunities, negotiating contracts, project management, and utilizing established Category Management processes. Supports Operations Team with Marketing execution and concerns. This person also ensures that a cohesive and professional brand identity is maintained across our network of convenience stores.

Category Management
- Develop Profitable growth via a variety of category management tools on special projects with an eye to increasing productivity
- Provide Category Management Insight by leading the dialogue with a focus on category growth opportunities, margin opportunities and SKU optimization
- Create, develop and deliver regular category reviews, plans, and strategies with retail partners
- Manage center-of-store assortment planning
Analysis/reporting
- Mine consumer/shopper data to develop insights and identify opportunities
- Perform post program results analysis.
- Provide analytical support with accompanying insights
- Manage ERP, Pricebook, and 3rd party tech platforms
- Administer Vendor Rebate programs
Inventory Management
- Manage Physical Inventory process for QSR and C-store
- Identify Inventory discrepancies and work with vendors to optimize position
- Create and administer forecasting to optimize raw material and CPG ordering
- Support Brand Director in Costing, Pricing and Menu Optimization for proprietary food service AG
Retail and Sales Operations
- Devise and execute store ops related to product and marketing
- Communicate all product and marketing related updates to stores
- Manage marketing calendar and physical marketing assets
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience in Retail.
Job Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft suite, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills (Vlookup, Pivot tables) and storytelling from data.
