This fall Redwood Smoke Shack is opening our third location and we are currently looking for highly motivated and passionate individuals to join the hardest working crew in Hampton Roads.

Job Requirements:

• High school degree or equivalent
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Excellent knife skills
• Be culinary professional with a passion for food and barbeque
• Be articulate and able to listen and communicate effectively
• Have at least 3 years experience in high volume kitchens
• Have the ability to scale recipes up or down by multiplying and dividing fractions and converting units of measurement
• Be able to self-manage, prioritize tasks and plan out your shift accordingly
• Possess an excellent work ethic and desire to learn and continually grow
• Have reliable transportation

Job Overview:

• Assist in the preparation of of our house made sides, sauces, desserts as well as meat trimming
• Ensure the quality of the product received & made

It would be great if:

-You have experience cooking on a smoker or with live fire

-You have high volume prep experience

-You have leadership experience

-You have experience trimming meat and making sausage

At Redwood, we are a Texas inspired BBQ joint. That means large cuts of meat, like brisket, seasoned with just salt and black pepper, and then cooked low and slow over indirect heat using real wood fire bbq pits. Redwood strives to have the best quality products available and partners with purveyors of high quality meat providers such as Prairie Fresh. Redwood is also the only place in Hampton Roads where you can find Texas’ very own Big Red soda on tap. Redwood strives to give you a unique experience from the moment you enter the restaurant. With interactive counter service, you are instantly involved in the selection and assembly of your BBQ meats and sides.
