Position Summary
The HR Business Partner serves as a valuable resource across the organization with an emphasis on talent management, employee relations, leadership and development, and talent acquisition. This role works closely with business leaders to support group and organizational wide initiatives and acts as a culture leader within the organization. Reporting to the SVP, Human resources, this role is located in Irvine, California and is generally working onsite 4 days per week. This is a full-time, exempt-level role.
Responsibilities & Duties
Talent Management
- Support and implement a variety of talent management programs including performance reviews and calibrations, talent reviews and assessment, and succession planning.
- Support the roll out of organization wide training and development programs that drive employee productivity, engagement, and retention.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Serve as first point of contact for employee relations with employees and managers, escalating issues to the SVP, HR and Legal team when appropriate.
- Play a proactive role in creating positive employee relations and in cultivating Redwood Trust’s culture and values.
- Ensure policies, practices and procedures are administered in a fair and consistent manner and in accordance with all applicable local, state and/or federal laws.
- Partner in the implementation and measurement of various employee engagement initiatives including the annual employee engagement survey process, planning employee events, and implementing community giving and volunteerism initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels to support day to day people needs within the organization.
- Partner with other members of the People & Culture team (compensation, benefits, HRIS, Learning & Development, etc.) to support other projects and initiatives.
Leadership & Development Initiatives
- Lead the development and implementation of foundational training programs for people managers, fostering leadership skills and enhancing managerial effectiveness.
- Manage Redwood’s summer internship program, creating an engaging curriculum for students and providing support for managers to ensure a valuable experience for all participants.
- Lead change management initiatives to ensure smooth transitions and adoption of new processes or systems. Provide training and support to employees affected by project changes.
Talent Acquisition
- Collaborate with department heads to identify hiring needs and support the creation of job descriptions that accurately reflect roles and responsibilities within the organization.
- Partner with the recruiting team to implement effective recruitment strategies to attract diverse and high-quality candidates.
- Help to manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new employees, as needed.
- Utilize various sourcing methods, including job boards, social media, networking, and employee referrals.
Required Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 5 years of experience as an HR Generalist/Business Partner; experience in financial services preferred
- Proven track record within multiple HR disciplines: talent management, employee relations, learning and development, and talent acquisition are most critical
- Experience coaching and advising employees on a variety of topics and ability to maintain composure during difficult conversations
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Collaborative team player with a positive, energetic approach to peers and client groups
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal employment law, with particular focus on California laws governing employers
- Proficiency with MS Office and experience working with HRIS
- Expertise in LinkedIn sourcing techniques and practices
A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this role is $110,000 - $130,000 annually. The actual salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, geographic location, training, licensure and certification, and other factors.
