Reed College is seeking our next Assistant Dean of Admission. This position's primary responsibility is to recruit incoming students. This role typically reports to the Associate Dean of Admission, is under the division of the Vice President and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid, and primarily works on campus interfacing with faculty, staff, and students.

This is a full-time ongoing position. The typical work week at Reed College is 37.5 hours, and hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with a one-hour unpaid lunch, although some night and weekend work is required in this position. Work schedule also includes approximately four weeks of travel each year. Salary for this position starts at $48,000-49,000.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the recruitment, marketing, counseling, and enrollment strategy for multiple assigned geographic territories

  • Evaluate and submit recommendations for individuals applying for admission

  • Attend college fairs and college recruiting events, and participate in on-campus and off-campus recruitment events

  • Counsel, interview, and host students, parents, high school counselors, independent counselors, community-based organizations and other constituents

  • Maintain communication with prospective families; counsel families on Reed's financial aid policies; support and advise families through the admission and financial aid process.

  • Travel for extended periods and work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, for a minimum of four weeks per year.

  • During reading season each spring, you and your colleagues will have the primary task of reading and evaluating college applications. This requires discipline, self-motivation, and focus. Careful, close, and timely reading of college applications is the most important aspect of our profession.
