Shift times vary : 6A-2P, 7A-3P, 2P-10P, 3P-11P
Holidays and weekends : Rotating
The Med Surg Technician is a critical staff position, which is responsible for performing receptionist and clerical duties, working as a CNA (providing delegated direct nursing care to individual patients and their significant others, when appropriate. The CNA organizes the aspects of care which has been delegated to support the RN in efficiently meeting patient needs) and functioning as a Telemetry Technician (assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice under direct supervision of the Registered Nurse).
Continuously required to multitask, use appropriate interpersonal skills, work with speed, consistency and accuracy while maintaining concentration levels adequate enough to perform the role's tasks.
Education and Training Required :
High School graduate or equivalent
Current BLS certification
Graduate from an accredited school for Certified Nursing Assistants.
Currently listed on CNA Registry in the State of Wisconsin.
Basic arrhythmia course (may obtain upon hire)
Experience as a Unit Secretary, Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant; with additional training or related healthcare experience is preferred.
Legible handwriting
Experience in clerical work and / or hospital work
Computer skills and typing / word processing skills
Experience :
One (1) year experience in acute care hospital setting or in ambulance preferred.
Cardiac monitor experience preferred.
Must have CNA Certification

Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing, oral, and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to use office equipment such as : copy machine, fax machine, paging system, computer and printer; use of wheelchairs and stretchers also required.
Complies with HIPAA privacy laws in all forms of communication and EMR use.
