THE OPPORTUNITY
Reel Works is hiring a full-time Job Developer, dedicated to the Train & Earn program, to connect and place participants in high-quality paid work experience positions.
Location: This position requires candidates to be based in the New York City Metro area, with the flexibility of a hybrid office environment. The physical office is located in Brooklyn, NY.

Compensation: Full-time 40 hours per week; $60k - $65k Benefits

Reel Works mentors, inspires and empowers underserved NYC youth to share their stories through filmmaking, creating a springboard to successful careers in media and beyond. Using a unique, one-on-one mentoring model, Reel Works builds vital skills of literacy, leadership, and self-confidence to create productive futures for youth. The MediaMKRS program was launched by Reel Works in 2019 to address the crisis of inclusion in the media industry. The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish. Train & Earn, one of DYCD’s federally-funded Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs for out-of-school, out-of-work (OSOW) youth in New York City, aims to fund integrated and holistic program models that will strengthen New York City’s (City) workforce development system and help young people gain the support, educational credentials and skills.
THE POSITION
Under the supervision of Program Senior Manager, the Job Developer will support the Reel Works mission and the Train & Earn program by developing and maintaining strong relationships with employers, identifying high-quality paid work experience placements, and supporting OSOW youth throughout the job search and placement process. We are looking for a strategic and resourceful Job Developer with a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced by OSOW youth and a proven track record of empowering and connecting them with meaningful, high-quality career opportunities within the film & TV/media industry. This position will play a vital role in ensuring the program participant job placement successes of the program.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Develop and implement a comprehensive job development strategy focused on the film & TV/media industry
- Build strong relationships with employers in the film & TV/media industry, identifying suitable work experience opportunities for OSOW youth
- Actively recruit and source potential placements, utilizing industry networks and job boards
- Provide personalized job search coaching and interview preparation support (mock interviews, resume workshops, etc) to OSOW youth throughout their application process
- Conduct job readiness workshops and trainings to equip participants with the skills and confidence to succeed in the workplace
- Negotiate and finalize job placement agreements with employers on behalf of OSOW youth participants
- Monitor the progress of placed youth, providing ongoing support and mentorship to ensure successful job transitions
- Analyze data and participate in program development to ensure program effectiveness
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including program staff, case managers, and employers
- Maintain detailed records and reports on job development activities and placement outcomes
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging opportunities within the film & TV/media sector
- Ensure compliance with all organization and agency policies and procedures, including attendance at mandatory DYCD trainings and professional development throughout the year
QUALIFICATIONS
THE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Human Services, Communications, Film Studies, etc.) preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful and relevant experience serving out of school, out of work (OSOW) youth
- Proven experience in job development, employer engagement, and recruitment strategies
- Demonstrated knowledge of the film & TV/media industry and its various career pathways
- Strong understanding of the challenges and needs faced by OSOW youth populations
- Proficient in Google Apps [Drive, Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Hangouts and Mail] and experience with tools such as Zoom and Salesforce
- Experience and passion for inclusion and working effectively with a diverse group of people
