Reel Works is hiring two (2) part time Training Instructors to lead and conduct training activities for the Train & Earn program.
Location: This position requires candidates to be based in the New York City Metro area, with the flexibility of a hybrid office environment. The physical office is located in Brooklyn, NY.
Reports To: Program Senior Manager
Compensation: Part-time 20-25 hours per week; $45-$55/hr

The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish. Train & Earn, one of DYCD’s federally-funded Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs for out-of-school, out-of-work (OSOW) youth in New York City, aims to fund integrated and holistic program models that will strengthen New York City’s (City) workforce development system and help young people gain the support, educational credentials, and skills.
THE POSITION
Under the supervision of the Program Senior Manager, the Training Instructor will support the Reel Works mission and the Train & Earn program by developing and delivering engaging training activities that equip program participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the film & TV/media industry. We are looking for an engaging instructor with a strong background in developing and delivering effective training programs. This position will play a vital role in fostering a positive and supportive learning environment, promoting program participant growth and development, and supporting participants in their journey towards career readiness.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Training Delivery and Facilitation (60%)
- Develop and deliver high-quality, in-person training sessions aligned with program curriculum and industry demands
- Utilize various instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and promote active participation
- Facilitate discussions, answer questions, and provide clear and concise explanations of complex topics to ensure understanding
Participant Support and Progress Monitoring (25%)
- Assess participant progress, identify learning needs, and provide individualized support to help them succeed
- Motivate and inspire participants to reach their full potential within the program
- Collaborate with program staff, including case managers and the job developer, to create a supportive environment for participants
Administrative and Technical Support (15%)
- Provide administrative support during in-person sessions (e.g.; taking attendance, distributing and collecting relevant documents, etc)
- Maintain accurate records of training activities, participant performance, and relevant documentation
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices in training delivery as well as occupational and life skills training
QUALIFICATIONS
THE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE
- 3 years of applicable experience and credentials/certifications in Education or a related field such as studies in the film & TV/media industry; applicable experience supporting young adults in occupational and life skills training, college preparation and enrollment, and/or coordination of training and/or tutoring services
- Proven experience developing and delivering effective training programs for young adults that fosters student motivation and participation
- Strong facilitation skills with the ability to create an engaging, interactive, positive, and inclusive learning environment
- Proficient in Google Apps [Drive, Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Hangouts and Mail] and experience with tools such as Zoom and Salesforce
- Experience and passion for inclusion and working effectively with a diverse group of people

- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required
- Bilingualism (English and Spanish) is a plus
