What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cybersecurity Analyst, Mid-Level, Innovation Program position at Referentia Systems Incorporated?
The Cybersecurity Analyst will support the RAPTOR Innovation Program, which transforms the Cyber Mission Assurance (CMA) capabilities of the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Enterprise Authorization Official (EAO) and its information systems owners. The role will focus on transitioning innovative solutions into operations in a systematic and metrics driven manner, which contributes to the enhancement of the cybersecurity posture for systems and organizations.
*This position requires onsite work in Hampton, VA.
Duties
Innovation Analytics Support
- Effectively uses Innovation Analytics to conduct threat-based analysis using current system vulnerabilities
- Helps establish initiatives to support the AO, MAJCOMs, bases, etc. understand and improve their cybersecurity posture
- Aggregates compliance deficiencies from system-through-Authorizing Official boundary
- Contributes to the development and refinement of data models and algorithms for assurance potential scoring
Risk Management Framework (RMF) Implementation
- Applies knowledge of RMF to support the Innovation module development for Authorization To Operate (ATO) and Continuous Authorizations
- Assists in automating security control assessments reviews to decrease manual processing time and improve risk assessment quality
Collaboration and Communication
- Works effectively with cross functional teams to align cybersecurity initiatives with operational requirements
- Clearly communicates complex technical concepts to various stakeholders
Continuous Improvement
- Actively participates in identifying areas for improvement in Innovation modules and methodologies
- Contributes ideas and solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of cybersecurity processes
- Suggests best practices. Create and share meeting notes with major points and action items; develop or capture requirements from discussions and meetings; develop process flowcharts; create associated documentation; develop simple plans; make timely and accurate reports; uses available technology to facilitate tasks and projects.
Adaptability and Learning
- Stays current with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and best practices
- Applies new knowledge to improve Innovation cybersecurity capability development
Data Analytics and Reporting
- Collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., customer, development team, etc.) for effective dashboards that provide actionable insights into cybersecurity posture
- Collaborate with stakeholders to automate data collection and transformation processes to improve reporting efficiency
- Conducts quality assurance analysis to ensure data accuracy and reliability in all analytics deliverables
- Develops and maintains documentation for all reporting solutions
Provides training and support to team members on use of analytics tools and to interpret dashboards -
- Assists with assessing customer needs, issues, and challenges in the Risk Management Process
- Supports the development of requirements for cybersecurity innovation projects and methodologies
- Helps develop project scope, milestones, and plans for cybersecurity innovation initiatives
- Collaborates with the Development Team to ensure capabilities, functions, and products meet operational requirements
- Assists with the development of PowerBI dashboards to visualize cybersecurity metrics and trends across the enterprise
- Assists with the creation and optimization of Excel-based reporting solutions using Power Query and pivot tables for data transformation and analysis
- Assists with the integration of cybersecurity dashboards and reports into SharePoint for enhanced visibility and accessibility
- Collaborates with stakeholders to identify key performance indicators and metrics for cybersecurity analytics continuous improvements
- Assists with project scheduling and task status monitoring
- Transitions assigned innovation projects and products to operations
- Develops and delivers training on assigned innovation projects, with a focus on analytics modules
- Provides backup support during high demand periods to the operational cybersecurity analysts conducting risk assessments in support of the government's security control assessors (SCA)
- Contributes to the continuous improvement of innovation modules, particularly the analytics modules
- Supports data integration and analysis to improve cybersecurity posture of systems, enclaves, and organizations
- Assists in generating and interpreting monthly actionable cybersecurity reports for the authorizing official and system owners using deployed innovation analytics modules

Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Cybersecurity, Math, Science, or Engineering required
- IAM Level II Certification required
- CompTIA Data Certification required, or must be able to obtain within 3 months of date of hire
- Must have 3-5 years of experience conducting risk assessments (NIST SP 800-53)
- Must have 1-2 years of former ISSM/ISSO experience
- Must have at least 1-2 years of intermediate experience with PowerBI, including DAX fundamentals, data modeling, and dashboard creation
- Must have at least 1-3 years of advanced Excel skills, specifically in Power Query for data transformation, pivot tables for analysis, and spreadsheet optimization
- 1-3 years of experience transitioning projects into operations required
- 1-3 years of practical experience analyzing, interpreting, and creating actionable cybersecurity reports from sources like ACAS, HBSS, Tanium, and open-source tools (Nmap, OWASP Zap, etc.) required
- Microsoft PowerBI Data Analyst Associate Certification strongly desired
- Microsoft Excel Expert Certification strongly desired
- ISC2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) preferred
- ISACA Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) preferred
- Associate of ISC2 certification or designation preferred
- Must be detail-oriented, factual and analytical with a solutions-minded focus
- Must be able to follow all best practices and be process oriented
- Must be flexible and agile to be able to transition across multiple tasks and projects
- Must be willing to learn new technology, as required
- Must be willing to receive feedback, learn, and grow as a team while working towards the organization's goals
- Must have strong communication skills (visual, written, and verbal) and be able to receive and build on feedback
- Must be able to work onsite in Hampton, VA
