Position description:
As a Maintenance Foreman, you are the leader of your team/crew. You accept the responsibility for the landscape care of the properties assigned to you, as well as the vehicle, tools, and equipment assigned to you. The Maintenance Foreman directly oversees two or three Gardners. The maintenance foreman must keep the Maintenance Manager and Supervisor updated on any problems with assigned properties. You are responsible for following the schedule set for you. You represent Refined Gardens to our clients. If you help us by servicing our clients better, it leads to more business, more opportunity and pay for all employees.
Reports to: The Maintenance Foreman reports directly to their Maintenance Manager, and Supervisor.
Skill set and educational requirements:
- The Maintenance Foreman must possess the following skill set and educational background:
- Minimum of two years of experience in landscape maintenance or fine gardening.
- Able to supervise two or three Gardners.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and must be insurable on company’s insurance policy.
- Have a clean criminal record.
- Legal documentation to verify employment eligibility.
- Physically able to handle the work load of a working maintenance foreman. Able to lift 40 pounds without assistance.
- Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
- Proficient in both oral and written communication.
- Able to represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.
Responsibilities:
Check your vehicle, equipment, and all tools to make sure they are safe for use before leaving the yard daily.
- Upon arrival to a property, you are to walk around the entire property and assess the condition of turf, plants, flowers, and trees. Also inspect all windows for any cracks or damage. If found, report to supervisor or manager immediately!
- Direct the members of your team on what needs to be done; if a teammate makes a mistake, you are responsible to train and correct their actions.
- Accurately record the arrival and departure time at each job. On the daily or assigned phone application.
- Regularly inspect plants for water trees (to much or to little), trimming needs, pest damage or fertilization needs.
- Check controllers and irrigation system every week.
- Record questions, problems, missing plants on daily work logs or assigned phone application.
- Ask your supervisor for training, help, and guidance when you do not know what to do.
- Secure all equipment when finishing a service visit, and make sure all gates are closed before leaving the property.
- Ensure all teammate are following safety procedures.
- Communicate all problems to your supervisor.
Salary, bonus, and/or commissions: Commensurate with experience ($22 to $25 per hour). Bonuses paid every summer and Christmas time! $1,000 to $3,000 everytime based on department goals.
Appraisal criteria: The primary appraisal criteria for the Maintenance Foreman is to supervise two to three Gardners and to do so safely, profitably, sand to company standards while keeping the Maintenance Manager and supervisor up to date on condition of properties.
