US Aerospace & Defense Correspondent (Level 1 Journalist)
Reuters is seeking a US Aerospace & Defense Correspondent (Level 1 Journalist) to lead investigative projects and work with beat reporters to produce quick-hit exclusives and initiative stories that pivot off breaking news. The beat will span a new space race between global powers; a reshaping of America’s military industrial complex to counter China; the impact on the defense industry from wars in Europe and the Middle East; and new players upending traditional aerospace and defense contractors.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptional reporter and writer with a proven track record of delivering groundbreaking enterprise journalism. Experience covering the aerospace or defense sectors – and a deep book of contacts - would be a distinct advantage.
About the Role
In this opportunity as US Aerospace & Defense Correspondent (Level 1 Journalist) , you will :
- Expose new details about secretive programs run by some of the world’s most important companies, including SpaceX, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon.
- Prioritize coverage according to developments and work with the global editor to identify areas where we can deliver distinctive and impactful journalism.
- Source, research and execute airtight reporting on investigative stories.
- Write engaging pitches and ensure they meet the expectations of enterprise editors.
- Collaborate with colleagues to expand the scope and depth of reporting from each.
- Work with visuals colleagues to maximize the use of graphics, pictures and video.
- Discuss stories in team meetings, and lead calls with reporters on collaborative projects.

The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $72,000 - $130,000.
