Reflections Substance Use program provides a continuum of integrated services, including assessments, substance use treatment, care coordination, family educations, and recovery support. We provide service that are innovative, trauma informed, person centered, and strength based. We strive for the highest quality of care evidence based practices in a trauma informed environment. The Alcohol and Drug Counselor in collaboration with their supervisor will be responsible for ensuring coordination and compliance with: funding sources, licensing authorities, and key stakeholders while providing effective treatment services to Reflections clients. The Alcohol and Drug Counselor will work with their supervisor on all implementation of current and new services; facilitate coordination of care with division continuum of services; and ensure culturally responsive direct services to individuals/families in the program.
The Alcohol and Drug Counselor will provide treatment services for our co-occurring program and is responsible for all clinical services and compliance with DHS paperwork, interfacing within the community in efforts to build and maintain relationships of stakeholders.
POSITION SUMMARY: Ability to establish therapeutic rapport and provide evidence based counseling using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) Therapy. Ability to comply with 245G policies, Federal Law 42, and HIPAA while working in a co-occurring outpatient chemical dependency program.
Experience/ Qualifications:
- Licensed by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), or education that supports you working towards LADC and eligible to apply for your Temp Permit.
- Must be able to pass DHS Rule 11 Background Check
- Ability to use the computer and document on an electronic medical record (EMR)
- Enter DAANES into the state system
- Free of chemical use problems for at least two years.
- Ability to structure time well and develop priorities include a minimum of 75% direct client contact
- Ability to relate to people from diverse cultural backgrounds as well as bio-psycho-socioeconomic circumstances
- Self-confident, creative, and able to exercise individual discretion or judgment.
- Able to devote the time and energy required ensuring sessions are complete, positive and reinforcing the clients, support agencies and the community.
- Possess a high level of crisis tolerance, and the ability to work through crisis situations in a professional, therapeutic, and positive manner.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change service needs
· Knowledge and understanding of trauma informed services, motivations interviewing and person centered care
· Experience with programs serving individuals with co-occurring disorders
- Must know and understand the implications of this chapter, chapter 245A, and sections 626.556, 626.557, and 626.5572. Demonstration of the treatment director's knowledge must be documented in the personnel record
· Good communication skills with staff, community, funders, and participants
· Excellent participant-oriented, and customer services skills
· Ability to assess and solve problems, make decisions, work independently as needed
· CPR Certification
