What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRN Family Nurse Practitioner position at Regal Park Medical Center?
- Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients
- Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
- Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals
- Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools
- Consults with healthcare professionals
- Trains patients and families on managing illnesses or injuries and disease prevention
- Helps provide primary care to patients
- Performs physical exams and patient observations
- Records patient medical histories and symptoms
- Creates patient care plans and contribute to existing plans
- Orders, administers and analyzes diagnostic tests
- Diagnose health issues
- Detects changes in a patient’s health and change treatment plans as necessary
- Administers medicines and treatments
- Evaluates responses to treatments and medications
Minimum qualifications
- Masters degree from an accredited nursing program
- Must have RN licensure in the state where employed or a compact party state and be board certified by either ANCC or AANP
- Must have prescriptive authorization
- APN authorization in the state where employed to practice in Family Health by the Board of Nurse Examiners
- Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of computer-based health data management programs and information systems
- Ability to communicate effectively, in verbal and written form, with medical partners at various levels, patients, family members, and physicians
- Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA
- Experience providing primary care as a family nurse practitioner
Experience
Minimum of one year of clinical experience in area of primary care or urgent care settings preferred
