About the Role
The Head of HR will lead the core human resources functions ensuring that HR systems, compliance, and policies effectively support a growing and complex workforce. This role oversees HR operations—including workforce planning, compensation and benefits, HR technology (HRIS), labor compliance, workers' compensation, and employee relations—while developing scalable HR processes that align with business needs.
The Head of HR will focus specifically on optimizing the operational and compliance-driven aspects of HR, ensuring that the business remains legally compliant, efficiently staffed, and equipped with strong HR systems.
Reporting to the VP of People & Talent Strategy, the Head of HR will collaborate with senior leaders and in-house legal counsel to ensure HR operations align with business objectives and regulatory requirements. This role requires a strategic, systems-focused HR leader with deep expertise in HR compliance and operational HR infrastructure and a track record of leading high-performing HR teams.
Responsibilities
- HR Oversight : Leads and optimizes HR operations, including compensation strategy and structure, benefits, HRIS, compliance, and workforce planning, ensuring scalable processes that support business needs and legal requirements.
- Employee Relations Management : Oversees employee relations strategy, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies across the organization.
- Labor and Union Relations : In collaboration with key stakeholders, including in-house legal counsel, participates in union negotiations, and assures contract compliance.
- Compliance and Risk Management : Ensures adherence to wage and hour laws, regulatory requirements, and internal policies while proactively identifying and mitigating HR-related risks.
- Policy Development and Implementation : Leads the creation, refinement, and execution of HR policies and procedures to maintain consistency, fairness, and operational efficiency.
- Operational HR Support : Builds productive relationships and partners with operational leaders to address HR-related challenges that impact achievement of business objectives.
- Workers’ Compensation and Leave Administration : Provides guidance and support to the HR Manager in the administration of workers’ compensation claims, leave policies, and accommodations to ensure compliance and employee support.
- Workforce Planning & Talent Acquisition : Collaborates with senior leaders to forecast talent needs and optimize staffing models. Oversees the recruitment function, ensuring efficient, compliant, and strategic hiring processes that align with workforce demands.
- HR Analytics : Utilizes HR data and analytics to assess trends, ensure compliance, and improve HR operations, reporting key insights to senior leadership.
- HR Team Development : Mentors and develops HR team members, fostering their continued growth and ensuring high-quality HR support for employees and leaders.
