What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiber Splicer position at Regal Utility Services Group LLC?
Position Summary: The Fiber Splicer will be responsible for installing, testing, and troubleshooting single-mode (SM) fiber optic cables in a Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network.
Responsibilities:
- Install and maintain Fiber Optics FTTH network.
- Install, repair, and troubleshoot fiber optic systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Perform fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problem areas.
- Splice and terminate SM fiber.
- Perform basic to complex installation, troubleshooting, and repair of fiber systems with minimal supervision.
- Access fiber optic splice enclosures and splice necessary fibers directly from a bucket truck.
- Perform fiber tests such as OTDR, power meter/laser source, and scopes.
- Prepare, tray, and splice fiber optic cables ranging from single fiber to large counts and perform ring cuts when needed.
- Install demarcation enclosures, switches, and other telecom equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose fiber optic issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
We strive to complete most of our workload for our customers in between the working hours of 7am - 5pm EST. Applicants need to be aware that the position they are applying for will require availability OUTSIDE of these hours. This would be for emergencies and planned night splicing as dictated by the customer or the overall health of the project. This may require weekends and holiday work from time to time.
