Regency, A Villa Center is seeking a Director of Wound Care Services RN to join their team! The Director of Wound care Services RN manages each resident’s routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with each resident’s assessments and care plan.
Director of Wound Care Services RN Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with patients who have gastrointestinal stomas for feeding tubes or colostomy bags, skin ulcers, drains, surgical incisions, or pressure sores.
- Directs the day-to-day functions of the nursing staff and nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
- Evaluates the skin surface of at-risk patients such as bed ridden elderly individuals to prevent decubitus ulcers and trains others to do so.
- Provides treatment protocols to ward off skin irritation and infection for wounds that may not heal well, because of other medical problems, such as diabetes or poor circulation.
- Ensures that all restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and of the resident’s response to the care.
- Implements standards of nursing practice in infection prevention reviewing and revising as necessary to reflect changes in nursing practice and resident population.
- Assists with the provision of nursing services 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
- Monitors and directs non-licensed ancillary services as deemed necessary to meet professional standards and maintain the highest practicable level of resident care
- Communicate/report information to residents, resident families, physicians, guardians, governmental agencies, and facility personnel as required by facility policy and State/Federal guidelines.
- Follows and adheres to company policies and procedures regarding HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) compliance.
- All other duties, as assigned.
Director of Wound Care Services RN Qualifications and Skills:
- Must be CPR trained and possess a current BLS certification. Recognized organizations include the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross.
- Ability to manage and supervise nursing staff.
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- High level of PC literacy preferred
- Understands and follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.
- Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
Director of Wound Care Services RN Education and Experience:
- Nursing Degree or diploma from an accredited College or University.
- Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- At least 2 to 3 years of experience, preferably in a leadership role.
- Long-Term care experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
