Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and accurate assistance with medications to residents, as well as providing support to nursing staff and maintaining a nurturing environment for all residents. You will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality care and safety for our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with medications to residents as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring compliance with safety standards and protocols.
- Monitor residents for side effects, adverse reactions, and effectiveness of medications, reporting any concerns to the nursing staff or supervising healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate medication records and documentation in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
- Assist in the preparation and organization of medication administration, including the management of medication cabinets and storage areas.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding medication regimens and health-related inquiries.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to create and update care plans as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding assistance with medication.
- Participate in training and continuing education programs to enhance knowledge and skills related to medication management. Along with having up to date certifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Medication Technician.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in assisted living, long-term care, or rehabilitation, is preferred.
- Knowledge of pharmacology, medication administration procedures, and safety precautions.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move residents as needed.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend over and lift for extended periods.
- Have adequate vision and hearing to perform job tasks safely.
