Purpose
The primary purpose of your job position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Maintenance Department in accordance wit the current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Executive Director or Administrator, and/or the Manager of Support Services, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.
Job Functions

Education: Must be able to read and write the English language; High School Education or Equivalent Preferred.
Experience: One year general maintenance or carpentry experience strongly preferred.
Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or without the aid of Mechanical Devices): Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day; must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner; must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position; must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met; must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, resident’s family members and coworkers; must meet the general health requirements set for the by the policies of this facility; must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 20 lbs and maximum of 50 lbs and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight for reasonable distances; may be necessary to assist in the evacuation fo residents during emergency situations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that work schedules are followed as closely as practical.
- Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be.
(Note: Such occurrence must be reported on the shift in which they occur.) - Complete required forms as necessary or as directed by supervisor.
- Show up for shift as assigned including on-call duty if needed.
- Attend departmental and staff meetings as directed or called.
- Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
- Addresses residents, families and fellow employees in a professional and courteous manner.
- Participate and assist in department studies and projects as directed.
- Attend and participate in in-service educational classes, on-the-job training programs, etc., as scheduled or directed.
- Attend and participate in annual OSHA in-service training programs for hazard communication, TB management, and blood borne pathogens standard.
- Understands OSHA, right to know law and material safety data sheets.
- Follows established fire safety and emergency procedures.
- Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies (i.e. chemicals, disinfectants and solutions).
- Reports immediately to supervisor any health or safety issues.
- Maintains and follows universal precaution procedures.
- Follows departmental dress code as applicable.
- Keeps equipment cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.
- Performs maintenance tasks within established standards and within known regulatory requirements.
- Completes maintenance requests in a timely fashion.
- Performs all other duties as directed by supervisor or other managers.
