General Purpose:
Responsible for participation, observation and validation of the delivery of care to residents on assigned Unit. Identify resident needs and review with DON, participate in the creation of care plans, administer nursing care, identify nursing care, observe CNAs and other personnel and provide findings to DON in charge.
Essential Job Functions:
This facility expects their employees to promote an atmosphere of teamwork with other employees and hospitality and comfort for its residents. Therefore, the following list of duties is not all-inclusive:
- Attend required meetings.
- Lead, observe, manage and monitor LPNs, CNAs and Caregivers and report findings to DON in charge. Lead and manage LPNs, CNAs and Caregivers in the performance of the departmental goals.
- Participate in care planning addressing immediate nursing problems.
- Collect data required to maintain quality assurance and provide findings to DON.
- Assist with monitoring resident care.
- Assist with resident care on the Unit per DON direction, as needed.
- Promote favorable working conditions and relationships with the administration, medical staff, consultants, other departments, residents, family members, volunteers, agencies, and any other individual or group affiliated with Unit and the facility.
- Report to DON in Charge occurrences that require immediate action.
- Promote a safe working environment, complying with infection control and body mechanic procedures.
- Perform treatments or venipunctures, as needed per direction from DON.
- Inform Central Supply of any supplies that are needed for the Unit.
- Attend in-service education programs in order to meet facility educational requirements.
- Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill and Evacuation Procedures and know how to use the information.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility records/information.
- Protect residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse.
- Protect the personal property of the residents of the facility.
- Others duties as directed by the supervisor or administrator.
- Interview, hire and/or terminate associates for the department.
- Complete all job performance reviews as needed.
- As departmental leader, you will work with scheduler to ensure proper coverage for all LPN, CNA and/or Caregiver shifts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed Practical Nurse with current state license.
- Excellent technical and documentation skills.
- Good leadership qualities.
- Organized and detailed in work performance.
- Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience.
- Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing facility.
- Comply with the Residents Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures.
- Perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined above.
