Position Summary:
The Production Supervisor in our poultry facility will be responsible for the day-to-day slaughtering, processing, packaging, and safety activities in the company. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining the Plant Safety Program. The production supervisor will oversee plant workers and ensure production goals are being met. The individual will assist in developing systems to ensure quality while improving plant efficiency. The manager must also be a strong leader with a high degree of ability to train and develop people. The production supervisor will ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed throughout all operational activities in the facility to support and continually improve the quality, growth, and profitability of the company. In addition, the production supervisor will oversee translating business strategies to comply with health and safety protocols. The individual will provide leadership to employees and management on health and safety strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following, other duties may be assigned.
- Manage daily operations of USDA inspected poultry processing facility
- Train and supervise plant workers and production.
- Tend to plant customers, maintain all plant customer records.
- Troubleshoot and manage employee and facility issues as they arrive
- Monitors all parts of production (slaughtering, processing & packaging) by evaluating the product, administering correction actions as noted in policies and procedures for slaughtering, directs and coordinates production throughout the processing phase and cleans, and packaging of meat products. Thus, coordinating with procurement, sales and logistics to manage the flow from the incoming of poultry to the outgoing of our products.
- Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraisal performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Lead Responsibilities:
- Maintains food and work safety regulations as required by law and company policy.
- Manages the scheduling of production, sets work schedules and departmental goals/expectations.
- Provides leadership to employees through effective communication, coaching, training, and development.
- Maintains appropriate staffing levels by coordinating personnel to fill vacant/absent positions with the plant manager.
- Controls waste by minimizing products sent to inedible and providing sanitary working environment.
- Manages departmental procurement of supplies and equipment.
- Provides technical expertise to resolve production issues and creates and ensures corrective actions are implemented.
- Develops, analyzes, and presents reports, including but not limited to, forecasts, productivity, and safety.
- Audits product and employee safety throughout the shift.
- Speaks with personnel throughout shift to provide a united working environment.
- Responsible for and coordinates all employee safety programs to determine their adequacy including review of short- and long-term strategic safety planning and development.
- Maintain positive working relationships with peers, support staff and USDA.
- Works with the plant manager to perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
- Various other responsibilities as needed and determined by the RFP and RAA.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in business, ag-business or related discipline; and/or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in USDA meat processing facility preferred.
Language Ability:
Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documents. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the public. Bilingual Spanish-English language skills preferred.
Mathematical Ability:
Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Computer Skills:
Microsoft Office Products, basic networks troubleshooting or capacity to interface with technical service providers, internet and basic computer set-up and management for desktops and portable computers, QuickBooks accounting software preferred.
Certificates and Licenses:
Previous HACCP certification strongly preferred, or willing to complete training course provided by the facility and SQF Certified. Commercial driver license preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable local, state and federal laws. Responsibilities include supporting the plant manager interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; assessing performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
