We are currently hiring for Stockbridge/Griffin location.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Verifying patient eligibility for ancillary services including, but not limited to, DME and in-house pharmacy.
· Determine an accurate fee estimation and provide to patient prior to dispensing.
· Determine and obtain prior authorization for DME, as is applicable.
· Timely and accurate dispensing of DME/pharmacy from inventory.
· Correct fitting and patient education of dispensed braces and medications
· Work under the direction of DME/RX Ancillary Manager to maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory through regular maintenance such as ordering and cycle counts.
· Verify all billing and regulatory forms are completely and accurately filled out, scanned, that corresponding charges are posted, and that charts are notated.
· Handle patient and clinic returns of DME with manufacturer defects.
· Handle patient complaints in a manner consistent with the Medicare DMEPOS Supplier Standards.
· Follow-up on missed ancillary opportunities with clinic teams.
· Maintain consistent communication with DME/RX Ancillary Manager to coordinate with Ancillar-Clinical Liaisons, providers, and clinic teams.
· Establish and maintain all pertinent DME/pharmacy claim entries, files, and approvals in Athena.
· Work effectively alone and as a team led by the DME/RX Ancillary Manager with Ancillary-Clinical Liaisons and other clinical staff to get the work accomplished timely and accurately.
· Actively coordinate new products and ancillary business unit integrations.
· Maintain communication with various suppliers and vendor representatives.
· Detailed knowledge of DME/pharmacy-related charge posting to ensure correct billing when questions arise.
· Other duties as assigned, and those related to, Medical Assistant role.
EDUCATION:
· High school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Sports Medicine, or Athletic Training preferred)
EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum of one-year experience in a healthcare service setting and one-year experience with DME fitting and billing in a provider’s office setting. Additional pharmaceutical experience/knowledge, medical insurance familiarity, and management experience is preferred. Proven ability to handle escalations in a calm professional demeanor and experience with DME equipment. Familiarity with obtaining authorizations from adjusters/insurance. Communicating effectively with various healthcare professionals, billing staff, and patients.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Electronic medical records system basics, familiarity with general DME fitting, advanced communication and interpersonal skills.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of health care field and medical specialty.
- Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical specialty.
- Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
- Knowledge of OSHA/HIPAA Rules and Regulations.
SKILLS:
- Skill in performing tasks appropriately.
- Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
- Skill in understanding of patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
- Skill in diagnosis (ICD-10) and procedure (CPT-4) coding.
