This is a hybrid role on-site 3 days per week in Tarrytown, NY or Basking Ridge, NJ and 2 days from home. A fully remote role is not possible for this position.
The Senior Director will be responsible for providing guidance, direction and leadership to the Global Development Resource Management group. The Senior Director, Resource Management, will lead the planning, execution, and optimization of Resource Management, ensuring the seamless integration of resource/workforce management tools, processes and controls across the organization while integrating across budging, drug development scheduling, and staffing. The Senior Director will drive process improvements and support business goals through efficient workforce management strategies. He/she will also provide strategic oversight to change management and communication to drive the proper organizational mindsets relating to resource/workforce management.

In a Typical Day, You Will
- Drive a vision and strategy for resource management across Global Development (GD)
- Ensure appropriate resource management process / guidance development and adherence
- Liaise with the Metrics & Analytics group on functional resource utilization metrics and benchmarks for resourcing
- Lead an innovative Resource Management function that will work with various functional areas and Clinical Development Units (CDUs) to aid in driving resource optimization across GD. This includes developing an approach to enhance functional algorithms, instituting processes to determine/confirm resource needs, improving systems and developing a network of functional resource subject matter experts.
- Establish an organization that can work with each functional area and senior leaders to ensure effective planning and resource allocation to meet portfolio or functional demand.
- Implement and consistently utilize Capacity Planning & Management and Strategic Workforce Planning tools and systems to create estimates of resource demand vs. current/projected human resource capacity. Partner with functional/senior leaders to develop strategies and plans to address demand/capacity gaps.
- Collaborate with colleagues in Program Management, Portfolio Management, functions, and Human Resources to develop a deep understanding of the scientific and operating priorities of areas that you support to provide insights into how best to meet the resource needs for executing the R&D project portfolio.
- Develop approaches to help Functional Service Providers (FSPs) and the functional areas overseeing these vendors to determine external functional demand to support the portfolio.
- Build and continuously improve business analytics that provide prospective and retrospective measurements of resource utilization, productivity, and efficiency, to facilitate timely and informed decision making
- A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, science/technology, or related field and 15 years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience and a minimum of three years in resource management (or equivalent management consulting experience). An advanced degree strongly preferred - MS/PhD or MBA with experience working within a science-based life sciences organization. MS/MBA 13 years of relevant experience or PhD 11 years of experience
- Extensive knowledge of research and development and thorough understanding of the tasks required in all stages of drug development.
- A strong understanding of the people, processes and infrastructure involved in the drug development lifecycle.
- Comprehensive knowledge of resource/workforce planning methods and techniques.
- Have demonstrated ability to develop and implement resource planning and Capacity Planning & Management deliverables including reporting, benchmarking, analytics, data visualization, decision analysis, and prioritization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong communicator and doer within all levels of the organization.
- Advanced skills with Excel and PowerPoint is required. Advanced knowledge of Planisware, and/or other project and resource planning and tracking software programs is a plus.
