- Medical History Collection: Gather detailed medical histories from patients to ensure they meet pre-operative testing requirements.
- Pre-Operative Testing: Assist with various pre-operative testing tasks, including lab work, vital signs, and other evaluations as directed by nursing staff.
- Patient Preparation: Work alongside the nurse to help prepare patients for their upcoming surgical procedures, ensuring they understand the process and feel at ease.
- Phone Support: Assist with answering calls from patients and other healthcare professionals, providing clear and accurate information as needed.
- Medication and Lab Testing Knowledge: Provide support in reviewing patient medications, lab testing requirements, and ensure all pre-operative instructions are communicated accurately.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant certification required.
- Previous experience in a medical assistant role or healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of lab testing, medications, and pre-operative testing guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work efficiently and empathetically with patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
