What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) position at Regina Health Center?
REGINA HEALTH CENTER is a mission-based skilled nursing facility of excellence! Regina Health Center is located on 230 beautiful acres in Richfield, Ohio. We are currently seeking a full-time RN to fill the position of Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our outstanding team!
The ADON will work in collaboration with the Director of Nursing (DON) to organize and oversee all nursing operations of the facility, which includes 99 skilled nursing beds and 54 assisted living rooms, and also maintain an efficient workplace with attention to quality standards of care. The ADON is expected to assist the DON to direct the operations of nursing care in accordance with the mission of Regina Health Center and in accordance with all current Federal and State regulations that govern long-term care and assisted living facilities.
The ideal ADON candidate should have proven experience as a dedicated and compassionate registered nurse who has developed good supervisory and administrative skills. Strong communication skills and efficiency, along with being an attentive listener, great team player, and problem-solver, are key to the success of an individual in the ADON role. The ADON is expected to foster an excellent environment that supports quality care for the residents of Regina Health Center.
Responsibilities
- Reports directly to the Director of Nursing and/or Executive Director.
- Assist the DON with managing nursing personnel (RN's, LPN's & STNA's etc.) and oversee staffing procedures.
- Organize and coordinate new admission and current resident procedures.
- Assist with the development and enforcement of policies that produce compliance and high-quality standards.
- Control budgets and monitor expenditures.
- Resolve issues and deficiencies when needed.
- Manage record-keeping procedures.
- Must have working knowledge of the basic principles of infection control and wound care.
- Must have demonstrated competence in providing wound care that is sterile and/or aseptic.
- Assure availability of treatment supplies and topical medications (as prescribed by the physician).
- Provide weekly documentation.
- Comply with facility guidelines for documentation and physician’s orders.
- Communicates professionally with residents, families, staff, and other team members.
- Interacts with facility therapists and medical staff and implements individual programs as developed.
- Maintains consistent patient care schedule and is efficient in use of time. Coordinates restorative treatments with other facility departments.
- Maintains a professional attitude and appearance.
Position Qualifications
- Candidate must be a registered nurse (RN) with a current license to practice in the State of Ohio.
- Supervisory experience in skilled nursing setting required.
- Working knowledge of legal regulations and best practices in skilled nursing/healthcare.
- Excellent organization and leadership skills, including strong interpersonal skills, initiative, good judgment, and proven leadership ability required.
- Must be proficient in basic computer programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, and Point Click Care (PCC) medical records software.
- Ability to work independently and develop positive working relationships with others, including facility personnel, residents, families, resident representatives, congregational members, DON, and all medical teams.
- Ability to handle challenging situations and commit to promoting an environment and that provides the highest quality of life for RHC residents.
