Senior Network Engineer

Job Title : Senior Network Engineer FLSA Status : Exempt Pay Grade : 105 Work Days : 226 Reports To : Director of IT Primary Purpose To oversee the management, stability, and performance of various critical networks. This role involves supervising junior staff, delegating tasks, and resolving advanced network issues. The focus includes maintaining networks like the FIBER11, ESC11 Core, and ESC11 Disaster Recovery networks, as well as networks for local education agencies (LEAs). Education / Certification Bachelor's Degree or six years of networking experience preferred Current CCNA or applicable networking certifications preferred Special Knowledge / Skills Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, while working collaboratively with teams. Integrate technology and security principles effectively. Demonstrate effective interpersonal and collaborative skills with both internal and external clients. Attention to detail and ability to quickly and appropriately troubleshoot and repair problems Extensive knowledge of routers, switches, WLAN hardware, network monitoring tools, and TCP / PI protocol use and troubleshooting. Understand LAN design and best practices, wireless network protocols, PC operating systems, Cisco cloud platforms, VMware or similar technologies, and antivirus management and solutions. Familiarity with VMware NSX, optical transport networking, Intrusion Detection Systems, open-source network tools, and Linux operating systems and terminal operations. Experience Six years of experience working with networking and telecommunications equipment performing the duties of configuring, monitoring, and managing LAN / WAN / WLAN infrastructure including management of routers, switches, and associated equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in team and departmental meetings, including knowledge transfer sessions. Install, upgrade, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware. Maintain network security using appropriate tools and equipment. Document network processes, and create and update network diagrams / topologies. Conduct after-hours maintenance, respond to incidents, and ensure compliance with FIBER11 Service Level Agreement. Evaluate network hardware, equipment, and software for purchase recommendations. Investigate user issues to identify and develop potential solutions. Open, monitor, and update trouble cases with the ISP, ensuring remediations are implemented for network and security issues. Troubleshoot network issues and document resolutions for future reference. Analyze system logs to identify and preempt potential network issues. Support other technology departments in technology planning and decision-making processes. Perform other duties as assigned.
