CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Community Outreach Clinician I/II/II
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a FLSA non-exempt position. The incumbent is responsible for providing counseling, education, outreach, and rehabilitation services to adults diagnosed with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring mental health disorders. The incumbent must be comfortable serving a diverse group of clients, including but not limited to, those who use Opioids, and other illicit substances, those with serious mental health diagnoses, those who are court-ordered and involved in the criminal justice system, and clients who can be hard to reach/engage due to their high level of need. The incumbent should be comfortable working from a strengths-based, person-centered perspective, in order to identify and develop the client’s individual strengths. This position will work with a team of Peer Support Specialists and case manager to promote and provide community outreach, harm reduction supplies, and materials to individuals served.
In carrying out the responsibilities of this position, the treatment provider reports to and receives general supervision from the Director and Program Manager of Blue Ridge Center. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound judgment, demonstrate initiative and maintain confidentiality in accordance with established policies and procedures. He/she is expected to perform all duties in accordance with applicable professional ethics state quality assurance standards Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) regulations, as well as established Region Ten policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:
To ensure the safe and efficient operation of the program, a valid Virginia Driver’s License plus an acceptable driving record as issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles is required. For business use of a personal car, a certificate of valid personal automobile insurance must be provided. Master’s degree preferred. Preferred candidates possess either a Master’s degree in applicable field: clinical mental health counseling, addiction counseling, or social work. Candidates with a substance use disorder certification (CSAC) also are encouraged to apply. Preferred Candidates should hold a license in a related human services field and be eligible to have one of these professional certifications or licenses within two years of employment. The incumbent will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Clinician I: Bachelor’s Degree required. Working toward Master’s Degree in a Licensed eligible field, or a Substance Use Disorder Certification
Clinician II: Master’s Degree. Candidates must be eligible to seek licensure through the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
Clinician III: Master Degree and licensed through the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
