CLASSIFICATION TITLE: SMVF Peer Navigator, Charlottesville (Full Time)
General Statement Of Responsibilities
This is a FLSA exempt position. The incumbent serves as the Regional Navigator for the STEP-VA Service Members, Veterans, and Families (SMVF) and Peer and Family Support Partner Initiatives in Region 1. In this capacity, he/she has the responsibility for providing guidance, resources, and coordination of resources/services across the region, which is comprised of nine Community Services Boards. The purpose of this position is to provide dedicated capacity at the regional level to support local, regional, and state level SMVF & Peer Initiatives in service to the goals, service, definition, and deliverables of the SMVF and Peer/FSP STEP-VA Initiatives.
Qualifications
The incumbent must have a Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral health or human services related field. Master’s degree and prior military, lived experience and/or knowledge is preferred.
Knowledge of: Development and implementation of SMVF & Peer/FSP regional initiatives; DBHDS requirements in regards to regional initiatives, including the STEP-VA SMVF Initiative and the STEP-VA Peer & FSP Initiative; federal, state, and local resources for SMVF & Peer/FSP population; family systems; organizational structure of Region 1 CSBs and programs; programmatic knowledge; gleaning key teaching points from policies and procedures; standard office practices and procedures; instructional and office equipment to effectively complete job duties; efficient, reliable office organization; word processing software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as knowledge of learning management systems.
Skills in: Program development; designing and managing functional statistics; data collection; preparing reports; contract management; ability to facilitate instruction; skills in assessment and program design; effective written and oral communication; providing feedback and status reports on completion of required duties/assignments; advanced computer skills; communication with a diverse range of people; ability to self-initiate; ability to follow instructions; creating a pleasant, supportive, professional environment; public relations within the region in regards to Regional SMVF & Peer/FSP Initiative.
Abilities to: Work closely with regional staff and external stakeholders to maintain continuity of services in relation to Regional SMVF & Peer/FSP initiatives; show good judgment in difficult situations; organized; moves to execution within established timeframe; good critical thinking, active listening, and reading comprehension skills; manage a positive and productive work environment; provide support; manage time effectively to complete multiple tasks by deadlines; maximize use of time; meet deadlines; high integrity; establish and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; follow oral and written instruction; follow up with status reports on assignments or completion of work; be self-motivated; learn new software as needed; flexibly adapt to DBHDS, DMAS, or other grant/ contractual requirements for compliance.
