Key Responsibilities
- Using electronic records management systems to ensure accurate and ethical billing practices.
- Bill Medical Assistance, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, UPMC and other commercial insurances using ICD 10 codes.
- Generate and issue accurate invoices to clients/customers in a timely manner.
- Review billing data for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
- Process payments and reconcile accounts.
- Maintain and update customer billing information in the system.
- Communicate with customers regarding billing inquiries, outstanding signatures on documentation, and payment arrangements.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on ERA process.
- Assist with preparing financial reports related to billing and revenue.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
- Report, Monitor and present Key Performance Indicators
- Enter accurate authorizations from insurance into our electronic filing system for other team members to utilize
- Audit and assist staff in the correction of documentation
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless billing operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience as a Billing Specialist, Accounts Receivable Clerk, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of billing procedures and best practices.
- systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Google platform
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in medical billing/coding, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in Accounts receivable, or a similar financial role.
- Experience billing Intensive Behavior Health Services (IBHS) and Speech and Language services
