The Position:
The Authorization Specialist will work on a team and will share in the responsibilities of completing the below tasks:
- Act as a liaison between the Precert Team and the office/patients for all infusion treatment authorizations
- Respond and reply to emails with the Precert Team on a daily basis
- Communicate updates to the patient
- Communicate, internally with the office, as needed
- Assist with completing and submitting applications for financial assistance, when needed
- Following through on the entire authorization process until completion; ensuring that the final step, of patient being scheduled is completed
- Assist with any add-on authorizations (emergent treatments which are needed in less than 3 days)
- Assist with any hospital authorizations
- Complete drug prior authorizations and appeals
- Connect with patients pharmacy benefit plans when treatment is not covered through medical benefits
- Follow through on entering PSM (patient-supplied med) alert into chart
- Order drugs in advance of visit
- These would be the main responsibilities of the role – however, being detail-oriented with documentation, follow-up, and strong communication and customer skills will also be needed for this role.
Requirements
- Minimum two years of relevant experience.
