Responsible for performing complex and multiple clerical support functions in the front office. The position is in a physician office practice that has a high volume of public contact.
- Schedules provider appointments.
- Greets patients promptly and professionally and registers patients by gathering, verifying and entering in demographic and insurance information.
- Obtains all registration information and ensures the completeness of the patient medical record.
- Collects co-payments, co-insurances, deductibles, past due balances, and personal payments.
- Handles inquiries about insurances accepted, office hours, services, locations, exam fees, etc.
- Works with the technical staff to triage patient emergency calls.
- Accepts charges within the management information system and verifies accuracy.
- Maintains the general appearance of the waiting room or reception area.
- Effectively manages dynamic and potentially stressful patient encounters.
- Effectively learns to work within the scheduling and billing systems.
- Effectively learns to work within the electronic health record software.
- Maintains working knowledge of all office equipment.
- Participates in continuing education programs and quality improvement programs at the direction of the supervisor.
- Uses excellent guest relations skills in all interactions with patients, visitors and staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent degree.
- Two years of experience working in a medical office setting.
- The ability to keep pace with a high volume of patient visits.
- Ability to travel to other offices on an as needed basis.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, visitors, physicians, staff and other persons contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to enter data into a computer.
- Ability to keep pace with a high volume of patients while performing multiple, sometimes, complex, tasks.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.21 - $22.69 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
