An Optometric Technician of Regional Eyecare Associates encompasses the responsibilities of a variety of different job titles. These may include but are not limited to pretesting patients, submitting insurance claims, and selling eyewear. Those in this position report to their individual store manager.
Hours needed are estimated to be 35 hours a week. Below is a list of duties that you would be trained in.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions
- Work alongside the doctor as a scribe to enter patient information in an electronic chart
- Perform various medical testing as required by the doctor
- Take detailed patient history and communicate chief complaint and medical concerns with the doctor
- Patient interaction discussing accounts, scheduling appointments, etc.
- Teach insertion and removal for first time contact lens wearers
- Be familiar with various types of contact lenses (soft, hard, duette, scleral)
- Work in a fast paced environment
- Understand how to submit vision insurance
- Ability to adjust and read eyeglasses
- Understand insurance benefits and how to quote and sell eyeglasses and take proper lens measurements
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
Specific Skills Required:
- Active listening to document medical information in a patient file
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- General computer, copier, printer skills required
Other Requirements:
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance
- Ability to move up and down throughout the day while working with patients
- Maintain HIPAA compliance

Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

- We require 1 evening shift until 7pm on Tuesdays and 1 Saturday a month from 8-Noon. Is this something you would be able to do?
