Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with three or more years of experience in marketing or communications. Strong writing, speaking, analytical, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational ability. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize accordingly. Regional and local travel as needed. Valid New York State driver's license.

Preferred qualifications and skills: Ability to speak and write to a variety of audiences. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, and Wordpress. Skilled in photography and/or videography.

Physical Requirements: This position works in a typical office setting but may be exposed to extreme temperatures in a warehouse setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending, listening, talking and/or visual concentration, writing and/or computer use. This position would normally have routine opportunities for the employee to be able to alter their physical position or change eye focus. Lifting should not normally exceed 30 pounds.

Work hours/shift: Monday-Friday; full-time; occasional weekend and evening work required for special events.

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, assists with marketing and communications projects for the Food Bank’s internal and external efforts. Identifies, researches, and develops new activities to increase awareness and other support for the Food Bank.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the creation and production of a cohesive suite of print and web-based promotional materials to support the Food Bank’s communications efforts. Oversees design and printing. Ensures that all materials are developed and distributed according to an appropriate timeline.
  • Assists with coordination of press events, media interviews, and other PR activities.
  • Capture and edit high-quality images for promotional materials, website content, and social media.
  • Collaborates with the Office of People and Culture on internal messaging including television screens for employee updates, Sharepoint, emails, and other employee communications.
  • Ensures the Regional Food Bank brand is strong and consistent in every marketing tactic and follows the organization’s branding and messaging guidelines.
  • Assists in production of quarterly internal newsletters
  • Assists with the management of online engagement campaigns and peer-to-peer/crowdfunding campaigns, including set-up and reporting, using our online donation platform, Classy.
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date inventory of electronic, physical, and printed branded assets and marketing materials.
  • Assists with email campaign creation for Programs and Advancement teams using Mailchimp.
  • Assists with cause marketing campaigns and third-party events. Notifies staff of relevant events.
  • Provides marketing support to other departments within the organization as needed.
  • Participates in community events and activities to develop contacts and promote the work of the Food Bank as needed.
  • Offers ongoing support for marketing team projects.
  • Stays informed about marketing and communication trends nationally and within the Feeding America network.
  • Maintains a clean and safe workspace.
  • Follows all safety standards and procedures.
  • Works independently and collaboratively with other departments and employees in support of the mission of the Food Bank.
  • Adheres to the Food Bank’s Employee Code of Conduct.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley was founded in 1990 to expand and improve service to charitable agencies and donor partners in Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Rockland, Sullivan, and Putnam counties. Working in partnership with the food industry, the Food Bank collects large donations of unmarketable but wholesome food and distributes it to non-profit programs feeding our neighbors in need in 23 counties. From the Canadian border to the New Jersey border, in urban, rural, and suburban communities, the Food Bank provided 50 million pounds of food and grocery items to nearly 1,000 partner agencies.
