As a Maintenance HVAC at MercyOne, you will provide HVAC services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading HVAC systems and equipment; assisting other skilled trades within the maintenance department; and ensuring that tools and materials are available at the job site. Assist in installing and maintaining plumbing systems. Supports, facilitates, and participates in the elder-focused social model of care.
- Utilizes skills in a specialized area of expertise or in general knowledge of several areas such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting mechanics, heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning.
- Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in heating/air condition and all their systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.
- Monitors hospital levels of temperature, humidity, steam pressure, and other critical check points.
- Inspects HVAC systems and their components as well as plumbing systems (water treatment equipment, waste drainage systems, etc.)
- Install and assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings along with sinks, tubs, etc. using the proper processes, making sure to test pipe systems and fix leaks.
- Ensures all inspections are current for assigned preventative maintenance schedules.
- Monday - Friday days; on/call schedule
- Universal HVAC license or five to seven years' experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting and corrective diverse HVAC services issues and intermediate plumbing skills.
- Must be able to maintain, repair and replace existing utility systems and write up material specifications for projects.
- Mechanical aptitude and proven ability to use hand and power tools, to work on ladders at various heights, and demonstrate a safety-conscious attitude.
- Ability to operate large vehicles, tractors, plows, and various lawn equipment.
- Must have valid Driver's License.
- Must be able to work with limited supervision to complete tasks assigned in a timely manner and have the ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities.
- Ability and willing to work in a variety of environments, including office settings, classrooms, laboratories, mechanical rooms, service tunnels, and outside areas.
- Must be comfortable operating in a shared leadership environment and collaborative team environment, including mentoring and sharing knowledge with co-workers and contracted services.
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
- Excellent customer service including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented and have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
- Comfortable using Microsoft office suite including word, email, mobile communication devices, and various internet applications
- Willingness and ability to complete assigned training programs
- Must be able to test and pass safety competencies and uphold safety procedures consistently.
- High School diploma or GED required.
