Job Summary:
The Director of Clinical Education provides strategic leadership in developing and managing comprehensive educational programs across the facility. This role ensures continuous professional growth for nursing and clinical staff, alignment with organizational objectives, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. The Director fosters clinical excellence, promotes evidence-based practices, and supports quality patient care initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs to enhance clinical excellence and quality patient care.
- Collaborate with Nursing Directors, Infection Control, Quality Improvement, Risk Managers, Physicians, and other healthcare professionals to assess and address staff learning needs.
- Align facility-level educational programs with enterprise-wide initiatives in partnership with market, regional, and corporate education leadership.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise the education management team and clinical educators to achieve organizational goals.
- Maintain a strong presence on nursing units, supporting clinical staff and patient care strategies.
- Oversee regulatory compliance and accreditation activities related to clinical education, including resuscitation training and certification programs.
- Build partnerships with educational institutions and community stakeholders to enhance clinical training programs and maintain academic affiliations.
- Apply expertise in adult learning principles to create engaging, evidence-based training programs.
- Manage the education budget in collaboration with the CFO, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Serve as a clinical resource to assist staff in assessing patient/family needs and implementing evidence-based care plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned while adhering to all organizational policies and standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a health-related field (Required); Master’s degree in Nursing or Education (Preferred).
- Experience:
- 4-6 years of nursing education experience in an acute care setting (Required).
- 2-4 years of leadership or management experience (Required).
- 2-4 years of experience developing and implementing educational programs (Required).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
- Expertise in adult learning principles, teaching methodologies, and program evaluation.
- Advanced knowledge of evidence-based clinical practices and regulatory compliance.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills for program development and resource management.
- Ability to foster collaboration among multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in continuous quality improvement concepts applied to education.
Licenses and Certifications:
- RN - Registered Nurse (State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure - Required).
- BCLS - Basic Life Support (Required).
