What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospital Staff Pharmacist - PRN position at REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER?
Schedule: PRN, rotating weekends and weekday coverage as needed (pharmacy hours 0630-1730 Mon-Fri and 0700-1530 weekends).
This position performs functions of the Pharmacy Department in accordance with hospital and departmental standards and policies.
- Monitors all orders on patient profiles for appropriateness, accuracy, drug allergies, interactions and
incompatibilities
- Reviews all medication orders prior to dispensing
- Responsible for drug, strength, schedule and form of medications that go in patient bins/dispensing cabinets at nursing care areas
- Provides drug information to providers, other health care personnel, and patients
- Supervises the activities of supportive personnel
- Fills employee and outpatient prescriptions as promptly as workload permits
- Must be familiar with clinical programs and capable of effectively participating in them
- Assists with quality assurance activities
- Assists the Manager
- Prepares IV admixtures, adhering to regulations, policies, and procedures
- Performs monthly controlled substance inventory
- Acts as system administrator for automated dispensing equipment
- Supports/promotes the appropriate use of antimicrobial therapy
