What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgery Tech or LPN (Surgery) position at REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER?
Schedule: 32 hours per week, 4 days per week, generally scheduled 7am to 3:30pm, with some variability due to surgery schedule. 1 night/week of call, every 6th weekend call coverage, and holiday call rotation.
This position is responsible for surgical technician or surgical scrub nurse functions of the surgical area and provides care for the patient in accordance with hospital and departmental standards and policies.
- Answers telephone, takes messages, disseminates information to the appropriate personnel
- Keeps work area clean and organized
- Answers call lights and notify appropriate personnel of request
- Communicates to ancillary services any departmental or patient needs
- Greets public as a positive hospital advocate
- Checks supplies/outdates for the department and communicates needs to appropriate personnel
- Assists nursing in ASC and OR with patient cares
- Assists with cleaning and OR room turnover
- Assists in re-ordering of surgical supplies
- Assists in QA projects
- Assists in CS with cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments
- Delivers dirty and clean linens
- Works under medical supervision to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures
- Works to ensure that the OR environment is safe
- Helps to facilitate staffing needs to facility
- Works to ensure that equipment functions appropriately
- Works to ensure that the operative procedures is conducted to maximize patient safety
- Possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation of tools and technologies
- Adheres to OR policies regarding red line, proper attire, and PPE
- Responsive to on-call duties and responsibilities according to facility policy
